THREE QUESTIONS WITH sarah
Your dream travel companion, living or dead?
“Tobey is my favourite travel companion although he ignores me on planes and sleeps, leaving me to drink Champagne and eat nuts. Georgina, yes, By Georgie, is my second for adventure travel. However, if I have to choose a famous person, then let it be Bruce Springsteen, aka The Boss. He can serenade me at night around a glowing fire pit, and I can be his backing singer. Move over Patti. Well…just for the singing bit.”
What do you never travel without?
“Three things! My Eastpak suitcase - it opens up to two zip-up compartments. Very useful when travelling around.
I love my Eagle Creek Packing Cubes -they squash nicely into my suitcase, are a great time saver and include a clean/dirty cube and shoe bags (a must). When you unpack, you simply put the cubes in drawers, making it easy to repack when you leave.
A leather, refillable Hermes Globe Trotter which my BF Tanya Rose gave me years ago. It is fantastic for holding business cards and taking notes during site inspections and meetings.
Don’t talk to me about hairdryers.”
What is the first thing you do when you check into your accomodation?
“I unpack immediately and check out the laundry prices, because anyone who has ever travelled with me knows I am insistent on having clean clothing in my suitcase (my Dad was the same). If I am by the sea, the first thing I do is head to the beach for a swim. Nothing beats that.”
“We have all been so very privileged to visit some of the most beautiful places on earth. I sincerely hope as an industry, that we can join forces to help preserve the wildlife, habitats and ecosystems for future generations to come.”
