THREE QUESTIONS WITH DREW
Describe Australia in one sentence to someone who has never been…
“An ancient vast landscape like nowhere else on earth and proudly home to the world’s oldest continuous culture, the Australian continent boasts a huge range of climatic zones from the great barrier reef, tropical rainforest, arid deserts and temperate regions of the south and is home to some of the most unique flora and fauna in the world, with an extremely friendly and multicultural society.”
What is the best piece of advice you’ve ever been given for your business?
“You cant be all things to all people, so focus on your passion and be the best you can be in that niche and always look to improve and grow because the moment you stop moving forward is the moment you are no longer the leader. Secondly, there are only a few things that matter in business so find out what those few things are and put all your effort into them. In summary this is the Pareto principle, also known as the 80/20 rule.”
Can you share your most outlandish client request?
“This is a trip organised with an extremely short lead time. After receiving a phone call late on a Friday afternoon, I coordinated a whirlwind adventure for a wealthy art collector to discover several privileged experiences in three different Australian states less than 48 hours later on the Sunday. He asked for a personal tour of the National Gallery of Australia in Canberra on arrival to see Jackson Pollock’s painting ‘Blue Poles’, and with a single well placed call I was able to arrange an early morning after-hours tour conducted by the Gallery’s Director. We then coordinated a different local private jet to whisk the client off to Kangaroo Island for a bespoke touring itinerary led by an internationally acclaimed wildlife expert, before coordinating the jet to fly Sydney in time for dinner and front row tickets to see the renowned opera ‘Madame Butterfly’ performed on the steps of the Sydney Opera House. Meanwhile I had his jet prepositioned to Fiji as the performance would finish after the Sydney airport curfew and had a second smaller jet that met the curfew noise requirements transfer him to Fiji to meet his jet and continue on his journey.”
“Our network of contacts and persistence has meant that we have been able to provide experiences which would defeat most.”
