 THREE QUESTIONS WITH AMANDA

What makes travelling with By Amanda so unique and special?

“Firstly, the collaborative process: working with our partners to truly tailor make a journey that is personalised and enriching. Then I would say, our black book. With almost 20 years in the business, we have contacts in all aspects of Australian travel. And lastly, first-hand experience. We promote what we know, what we have done, what we love, what we believe in.”

If you could have one feast in one restaurant right now, where would it be?

“I’d start with a drink at the Darling Darling Bar, inspired by the typical seafarer’s ale houses of the 1800s, it’s just the spot for weary sailors who spent years at sea travelling to Fremantle. Then walk down the historic streets to Lions + Tigers. A real favourite with the locals, this casual eatery combines Indian, Asian and European flavours.”

Where is your favourite place in Australia and why?

“The west coast! I admit that is cheating a bit as it is over 12,000 kms and hugely varied with wine regions and surf beaches and much more; but it is the remote coastal spots around Ningaloo and the Kimberley that are my favourite. There are so few people, the landscape is wildly beautiful, the air is clean, and the colours are so vibrant.”

“I’ve years of experience across our industry including with airlines, as a retail travel specialist, a hotelier, in lodge building and in marketing and I am excited that, at our end of the market, great change is afoot. Among my personal goals is the promotion of sustainability in the planning stages. I want clients to ‘demand’ more than a great trip for themselves, I want them to ‘demand’ that their travels result in tangible benefits to local communities and habitats.”
