We love Uganda and we love sharing It with other people. After working as both an agent and a DMC, we wanted to create something that would let people experience Uganda in more creative ways than the standard Itineraries often seen online.
“Uganda sits In the sweet-spot between "niche" and "touristy". It's developed enough that you can confidently run a safari Itinerary to a high-standard, but lesser-visited and hence less busy than Its more popular neighbours on the African continent. There's still that hint of the unknown, the feeling of "raw Africa” as the early explorers found it. Best of all, the Ugandan people are some of the most endearing and charming on the planet.”
THREE QUESTIONS WITH KEVIN & LESLIE
Where is your favourite place in Uganda and why?
“The top of Murchison Falls. These are the world's most powerful waterfalls, where the entirety of The Nile crashes through a 6-meter gap In the cliffs and pours Into the Fajao gorge. There is something meditative, nearly primordial from sitting up there watching the lifeblood of this amazing continent churning past you.”
Describe your most amazing wildlife encounter?
“It's a little grotesque; but watching chimpanzees, herd, hunt and ultimately kill then eat a colobus monkey in Budongo Forest. The intelligence they demonstrated, working together in a group to chase the monkey through the forest canopy, forcing it to leap out of one tree, into the waiting arms of another chimpanzee, hidden in an adjacent tree. Not to mention the hoots and screams of the hunting party emanating from all around us! Once they'd caught their prey, you really appreciate the sheer power of chimpanzees as they tore the monkey apart like it was a loaf of bread, sharing out the spoils of the hunt with the pack.”
What wrong assumption do people make about Uganda?
“When you tell some people you live and work in Uganda they first thing they often say is "Oh, isn’t that dangerous?" Often followed by some comment about Adi Amin. “Is he still the president?” Fortunately, that perception is changing as more people travel to Uganda and share their experiences with friends and on social media. When people approach us about travel, they often are not aware about how much Uganda has to offer in addition to the trekking mountain gorillas. The gorillas and chimpanzee trekking are certainly the main draw-cards, however Uganda hosts a wealth natural wonders that also lets us enjoy hiking, safari, adventure sports, water-based activities and cultural excursions.”
“It's hard to describe the magic of Uganda in words, you need to come and experience it for yourself.”
